The Government of Venezuela proposed to the government of Qatar the possibility of working on several projects formulated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in order to develop and strengthen the country’s agro-industrial sector, for which financing is required.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reported through a statement that in a meeting held between Rubén Darío Molina, Vice Minister for Multilateral Issues of Venezuela, and Rashid Fetais, Qatari ambassador in Caracas, who addressed the issue of the UNIDO projects.

According to information from the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNIDO is “developing technical cooperation activities in the Caribbean nation in the agricultural and agro-industrial area, within the framework of the Venezuela Country Program 2018-2024, signed in May 2018”.

UNIDO recently notified that it will carry out three pilot projects in Venezuela, whose purpose is to develop the production of agricultural inputs.

The three pilot projects that the international organization will develop in the Caribbean country are linked to the manufacture of agricultural materials through the “technological update of a biocontrol laboratory, the production of biological inputs for soil improvement, and the evaluation of water-soluble fertilizer.”

Both countries maintain cooperation agreements in different sectors such as sports, trade, customs, industrial, oil and are now including in the agricultural and industrial portfolio.
