Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a $4 billion investment in Chile to build its cloud data center for Latin America.

The company expects this center to be operational in 2026 and will operate from Chile as the sole facility for the region. Amazon is also managing projects in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.

According to Investing, this project “will primarily use air cooling, minimizing the use of water in its cooling systems” to meet Amazon’s commitment to zero emissions.

According to Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS, “the growing demand for cloud services“ in the region justifies the construction of this data center, incorporating advanced technology and the participation of government agencies, the private sector, and startups.
