This Tuesday, the Santander Group confirmed that its customer and employee database, hosted by an external provider, was the victim of a cyberattack.

Those affected in Spain, Chile and Uruguay had already stated that when trying to enter the system they received the access-blocked warning.

The news was confirmed on Tuesday, although the attack apparently occurred over the weekend, which is a serious blow to the banking sector.

It was learned that the database hack compromised the security of its computer systems, although according to Banco Santander it did not compromise transactional information or access credentials or internet banking passwords.

Immediately, the bank activated security protocols, including blocking access to said database, and issued a statement reporting the incident and regretting the violation of the information contained on the platform.
