The head of the German automaker BMW, Oliver Zipse, presented a car made entirely from waste material and renewable raw materials.

The company aims to become “the most sustainable vehicle manufacturer in the world”, Zipse said at the Munich Motor Show (IAA).

According to Zipse, the BMW i Vision Circular is not simply a design study, but “a way of thinking, with which we develop the new class”, the architecture of electric cars for model generations from 2025.

The body of the small car is made of recycled and unpainted aluminum and steel. “This way you can get back on track again,” said BMW chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk.

Chrome, double frames and decorations were omitted, while the BMW logo was simply laser etched into the metal.

Also inside the vehicle there is no chrome or leather, but exclusively recycled material. Where the materials are put together, they are joined with connectors and screws, so that during the scrapping of the car they can be easily separated and reused.

The BMW designer explained that clients with high purchasing power and others who ascended socially were increasingly demanding responsible consumption.

The automaker made the circular economy its leitmotif at the IAA and wants to demonstrate with the i Vision Circular that customer demands for luxury and lifestyle can also be met with a car made from recycled materials.
