It is true that despite technological advances, the Achilles heel of new equipment continues to be the battery. To provide a long-lasting solution, the company Betavolt Technology launched this atomic battery.

How did they achieve this? “All of this has been achieved using a surprising type of energy, atomic energy, and although this may sound dangerous or nonsensical, the truth is that it could be the energy of the future for all kinds of devices such as smartphones, small robots, drones, smart sensors or even medical devices,” the company says.

They explain that the energy is obtained “from the natural disintegration of a radioactive isotope, and the truth is that for now it is not very well known how safe this source of energy is.”

The BV100 battery is safe; it has passed preliminary controls successfully, although additional safety tests are still needed before it can receive approval for large-scale production and marketing.
