Hubei Province, in central China, announced the entry into operation of the second freight terminal for China-Europe (Central Asia) freight train services.

The start of operations of this hub in Wuhan was marked by a freight train loaded with auto parts that departed from Xianglushan Station for Kazakhstan.

According to local authorities, this station “allows direct customs clearance without transshipment, reducing transportation times by approximately two days and lowering logistics costs by 15 percent compared to previous routes.”

It is a crucial connection between rail and river intermodal terminals, as previously “export goods assembled in Wuhan and transported via the Yangtze River had to be transferred to the province’s only freight hub, Wujiashan Station, for trains bound for Europe (Central Asia).”

Hubei’s strategic location allows it to redefine a modern transportation network connecting waterways, railways, highways, airways, and digital channels.

In terms of figures, the province recorded “foreign trade of 402.31 billion yuan (US$56.34 billion) in the first half of the year, representing a year-on-year increase of 28.4 percent.”
