In June 2026, the Chilean economy grew by 2.4 %, breaking a five-month streak of decline, according to data released by the Central Bank on Monday, August 3.

In 2025, Chile’s GDP grew by 2.5 %, with inflation closing at 3.5 %, its lowest level in five years.

According to the Monthly Index of Economic Activity (Imacec), which encompasses 90 % of goods and services and is considered a leading estimate of Chile’s GDP, the figure exceeded market expectations. The central bank attributed this to growth in mining, services, and commerce.

With these figures, the country is projected to avoid a technical recession following the negative figures for the first quarter of 2026, although preliminary results for the second quarter of this year will be released next Tuesday, August 18.

The report details that goods production grew 3.9 % year-on-year, thanks to the performance of the mining sector, particularly copper. Commercial activity saw annual growth of 5.4 %, with notable increases in wholesale sales of machinery and equipment, and sales in specialized clothing stores, grocery stores, and through online retail platforms.

In the services sector, the increase was 1.7 % year-on-year, particularly in the areas of health and education.
