On Sunday, February 23, Germany will hold elections to choose the new chancellor. The candidates Olaf Scholz, Friedrich Merz, Robert Habeck and Alice Weidel will compete for the position.

As is known, Olaf Scholz is the current chancellor of the country. The leader of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) has made efforts to encourage the population to give him a vote of confidence and thus stop the rise of the right.

The second candidate, Friedrich Merz, belongs to the Christian Democratic Union-Christian Social Union, and bases his proposal on conservative values ​​as well as a firm stance against immigration.

Then there is Robert Habeck, candidate of the Greens. He is the regional president of the party and current Minister of Energy Transition, Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas.

Alice Weidel, the only woman in the electoral race for the position of chancellor, represents the Alternative for Germany party.
