Earlier this year, he called bitcoin a Ponzi scheme. However, now, thanks to the country’s moderate openness to cryptocurrencies, the bank will offer this new option to its clients.

This decision comes after pleading guilty to criminal charges in the United States.

According to court documents, Zhao is scheduled to appear in court in Seattle on February 23 for sentencing hearings. In addition to the impressive bail, it has been revealed that the former CEO is depositing the additional sum of $15 million into a trust account under the management of Davis Wright Tremaine.

This surety agreement imposes specific requirements, requiring the participation of two guarantors willing to pledge $250,000 and $100,000, respectively. Zhao’s legal fate is now in the spotlight, with the hearing date marked as a pivotal moment in this intriguing judicial chapter.

On November 22, OpenAI announced a new deal to bring Altman back as CEO. The company confirmed the news through a statement on its official X account (formerly Twitter).

“We have reached an agreement in principle for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO,” the company stated, detailing that the new initial board will be composed of Bret Taylor as president, Larry Summers and Adam D’Angelo. They added that they are working on the details of the agreement and thanked them for their patience during this process.

Altman, expressing his love for OpenAI, had decided to retire from his new role at Microsoft to return to the company he co-founded. “I love OpenAI, and everything I’ve done in recent days has been to keep this team and its mission together,” shared Altman, who also highlighted his desire to take advantage of the strong partnership with Microsoft.

Satya Nadella supported Altman and OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman’s decision to return to the organization. Nadella stressed the importance of ensuring that OpenAI continues to thrive and advance its mission in the field of artificial intelligence.

Altman’s dismissal on Friday by OpenAI’s board triggered a series of high-level departures at the company, as well as alleged pressure from major investors for his return.

Sam Altman, known for his leading role in launching chatbot ChatGPT, said on the X network: “The mission continues.” His removal as CEO of OpenAI was due to a loss of trust from the board, which argued that he “was not always truthful in his communication”, affecting his ability to fulfill his responsibilities.

OpenAI, structured to advance the mission of benefiting humanity through artificial intelligence, said the decision was made following a deliberative review by the board of directors.

The company statement said: “The board no longer has confidence in his leadership abilities and believes a new approach is needed to advance our mission.”

On October 10, the committee released a 500-page final report in which it accused Zhao and local Binance executives Daniel Mangabeira, Guilherme Haddad Nazar and Thiago Carvalho of fraudulent management practices, operating without sufficient authorization and offering securities trading services without authorization.

In the report, the committee, led by MP Ricardo Silva, stated that Binance, Zhao and others “established an opaque network of legal entities, all controlled directly or indirectly by Zhao, with no defined commercial purpose and no purpose other than to evade the compliance with the law.”

The report also recommended the indictment of 45 other people, citing “strong evidence” of their alleged involvement in criminal schemes, and the names mentioned are linked to multiple cryptocurrency companies, including the 123milhas travel company, the “18K Ronaldinho” crypto scheme and others.

Silva wrote that since Binance was being accused of failing to comply with regulations in numerous jurisdictions, in Brazil, Binance’s operations were “surrounded by suspicion.”

The committee recommended that the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office launch an investigation into all of Binance’s operations in Brazil, with a specific focus on tax evasion, money laundering, and the financing of organized crime and terrorism.

Additionally, the committee recommended that the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) launch an investigation into the sale of Binance derivative products.

The committee stated that despite being told to cease trading derivative products, Binance continued to offer them, which constituted a “repeated violation” of market regulations. Binance is already being investigated by the CVM for allegedly illegally offering derivative products in the country.

The committee’s recommendations were not legally binding and were suggestions for local authorities. Police and other regulatory bodies would decide whether to proceed with further action.

Renowned Bloomberg journalist, Jason Schreier, was the first to report this surprising news.

The official confirmation came through a statement issued by the company, which highlighted that Jim Ryan chose to retire as of March 2024. However, what is even more surprising is that during the coming months, Ryan will not maintain his position as director of PlayStation, but will assume a new role in the company.

The management of PlayStation, starting in October, will fall into the hands of Hiroki Totoki, current chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was announced that Totoki will fill this role on an interim basis, as the company plans to appoint a new CEO within the next year.

Kenichiro Yoshida, CEO of Sony, praised Jim Ryan’s outstanding career at PlayStation. Ryan joined the division in 1994 and assumed leadership in 2019, just before the launch of the successful PlayStation 5, which took place amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Yoshida recognized the extraordinary achievement of Ryan and his team in carrying out this launch under such challenging circumstances.

“Jim Ryan has been an inspiring leader throughout his time with us, but never more so than when he oversaw the launch of the PlayStation 5 amid the global Covid pandemic. This extraordinary achievement, achieved by the entire SIE team, continues to grow , and the PlayStation 5 is on track to become SIE’s most successful console to date,” Yoshida said.

To avoid unfounded speculation, Yoshida emphasized that Jim Ryan is simply exercising his right to retire after decades of service at PlayStation, and the company fully respects that. Additionally, he announced that an administrative restructuring will be carried out in response to this decision, although he did not provide additional details in this regard.

Jim Ryan explained that one of the reasons behind his decision to retire from PlayStation is the difficulty of reconciling his residence in Europe with his work in North America, especially given the travel required.

“After 30 years, I have decided to retire from SIE in March 2024. I enjoyed the opportunity to have a job I love in a very special company, working with great people and incredible partners. But I am finding it increasingly difficult to balance living in Europe and working in North America. I will leave having had the privilege of working on products that have impacted the lives of millions around the world. PlayStation will always be a part of my life and I feel more optimistic than ever about the future of SIE. I want thank Mr. Yoshida for placing so much trust in me and for being a sensitive and caring leader,” said Jim Ryan.

In an August 16 filing in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, Judge Amy Berman Jackson stated that she would refer a motion for a protective order against the SEC, filed by Binance.US’s lawyers, to Magistrate Judge Faruqui for resolution. Binance.US’s legal team submitted the motion on August 14, claiming at the time that the order was necessary to shield the company from the SEC’s “fishing expedition” during the presentation of evidence.

Before Jackson’s decision, the former head of the SEC’s Internet Enforcement Office, John Reed Stark, speculated on X that the matter would be referred to a first-instance judge before the commission opposed it legally or publicly. As of this edition’s closing, the SEC had not filed any motion in response to Binance.US’s request.

“While each case is different, in most significant financial investigations and civil actions, the SEC tends to demand excessive information in their requests for documents, testimonies, statements, interrogations, etc.,” Stark asserts.

The crux of the order was that the SEC had requested information from Binance.US related to custody, security, and availability of user assets. The company claimed that the information was not relevant to the SEC’s case, which was filed in June for alleged unregistered securities offerings.

Binance and CZ are facing a lawsuit from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, for which they filed dismissal motions in July. The United States Department of Justice is also reportedly investigating the global exchange for allegedly allowing Russian entities to use its platform.

It is the first case of a robot in charge of the most important decisions of a company, which could feed the belief that AI is more of an ally than a threat.

Mika, who has already participated in interviews about his position at the helm of Dictator, stresses that she could even make better decisions than Elon Musk (X/Twitter) or Mark Zuckerberg, at Meta.

The robot was developed in Hong Kong by Hanson Robotics, “it has state-of-the-art algorithms and machine learning, which allows it to make informed decisions on strategic issues, communication and solution design. Her skills are so amazing that initially skeptical employees have witnessed the value he brings to the company.”

Mika recently gave a conference at the United Nations, giving a leap of impact in the field of technology and, above all, in the role of humanoid robots with respect to humanity.

“According to Mika and her sister Sophia, the absence of bias and emotion in AI improves its decision-making efficiency, something that could make a difference in business leadership and, who knows, maybe even governance of nations”, reports the digital media Futuro360.

Regarding the benefits of keeping a robot in charge of a company, the most optimistic vision highlights it is a worker who does not require permits or vacations, who does not get exhausted or sick, in addition to being always available for communications.

This was stated in the conversation that he had this Friday with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Publicis Groupe, Maurice Lévy, within the framework of Vivatech (Paris), which was also joined by the CEO of Orange, Christel Heydemann; Image & Environment LVMH, Antoine Arnault; and the Chief Digital and Marketing Officer of L’Orèal, Asmita Dubey.

Lévy began the conversation with a review of his career, in which he founded, co-founded, and helped found different companies, such as Tesla, PayPal, XpaceX, and OpenAI. Twitter, however, reached his resume through the acquisition that closed in October 2022, for 44,000 million dollars.

“If I’m so smart why did I pay so much for Twitter”, he questions jokingly. Before being the owner, he was a user, and from this experience he learned what, for him, was wrong with the popular platform. Beginning with the treatment that his previous managers of freedom of expression made, an issue with which he was always critical.

His idea of freedom of expression is that people express themselves, regardless of whether what they say is not liked by others. Even if it is offensive or hurtful. “We want to make sure they say what they can’t say where they come from. It’s a sign of health in a way,” he says.

When asked about the consequences of unlimited free speech, such as fake news or harassment, especially when thinking about underage users, Musk says that users can say offensive things, but their content will be demoted.

He was concerned that Twitter would have a negative effect on civilization, being the most direct means of communication with the world. And the acquisition a sample of his way of seeing things, of doing everything possible to change what you see that is negative.

Musk is sure that “many people will say that his experience has improved” since he has been around and has introduced changes to the social network. He claims that they have gotten rid of 90% of the bots and scam accounts and the bad things that happen on it. And he has stuck out that Twitter is now the only company that allows us to see the true code on which it is based. Full transparency for people to see exactly how it works.
