Bancamiga made a significant donation to the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), aimed at comprehensively modernizing its communications platform and optimizing critical areas of its technological infrastructure, demonstrating its firm commitment to sustainable development, cutting-edge education, and the future of Venezuela, stated José Simón Elarba, Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors.

To date, the UCV community relied on a platform with local servers and outdated open-source collaborative software, with limited capacity that only allowed it to serve administrative and teaching staff.

“Now, with Bancamiga’s support, a complete migration to Google’s global infrastructure will begin. This large-scale modernization project will be implemented progressively over the course of a year, thanks to this donation we have made to UCV to boost the academic activity of one of the region’s most important universities,” explained Elarba.

Impact and transformation

This digital transformation will completely eliminate dependence on hardware and constant software updates, drastically reducing high server maintenance costs.

Google’s platform, widely known worldwide for its proven effectiveness and high security, will benefit an estimated 35,000 users, comprised of 70 % students and 30 % faculty, administrative, and support staff.

Under a single institutional identity, the university community will be able to guarantee access to the system from anywhere in the world.

The donation also included the reactivation of the air conditioning system at the Radio, Television, and Multimedia Management office

The direct impact of this corporate social responsibility contribution from Bancamiga will translate into a qualitative leap for the university. Users will have access to leading Google tools such as Meet, Drive, and Classroom, among others, as well as cutting-edge technologies like Gemini Artificial Intelligence.

The project’s implementation will enhance the scope of research, projects, and daily tasks related to communication, editing, calculation, and audiovisual production for those at UCV, once again positioning the institution at the forefront of education.

Infrastructure restoration

The project financed by Bancamiga also addressed a critical need on campus. The bank assumed responsibility for the maintenance, repair, replacement of parts, and commissioning of 11 central air conditioning units, each with a capacity of 5 tons. These units serve the Radio, Television, and Multimedia Management department, which designs and produces audiovisual content, radio programs, and virtual environments to optimize teaching and learning processes at the institution.

With this strategic alliance, Bancamiga reaffirms its role as a key company with a robust social responsibility program in Venezuela, demonstrating that supporting higher education and bridging the digital divide are fundamental pillars for the country’s sustainable human development.

This academic event will bring together more than 1,700 people, including researchers, professors, students, and professionals, to reflect on topics such as just socio-environmental transition, circular economy, resource regeneration, climate action, and resilience.

This initiative was promoted by doctors Rafael Laplana and Anabell Bologna, from the LaplanaBologna clinic, together with De Abreu, from the sleep unit @turoncasvenezuela.

Responding to a major public health problem

Dentists and specialist doctors, in close collaboration and combination, today provide solutions to apnea and snoring, for the well-being of patients; These are pathologies and conditions that have become a serious global public health problem.

Doctors and university professors Leopoldo Correa and Álvaro Ordóñez were invited and moved to Venezuela from the School of Dental Medicine at Tufts University (Boston). Correa, an associate professor and division director at the Craniofacial Pain Center, incorporated the teaching of Dental Sleep Medicine into the undergraduate and graduate programs at Tufts. Ordóñez is a TMJ (temporomandibular joint), dental occlusion, orofacial pain, and dental sleep disorders researcher at Tufts University. And he has been president of the Craniofacial Department at the University of Florida, president of the Academy of Osseointegration and Clinical Innovations and president of Latin America ICOI.

This training activity or educational event will benefit the Huellas de Bondad Foundation, an institution that since 2016 has been in charge of working in vulnerable communities, enhancing their natural leadership to achieve a positive impact on the environment.

The meeting was endorsed by the Colegio de Odontólogos de Venezuela and attended by academic authorities from the University of Carabobo, the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) and the Santa María University, as well as several Scientific Societies.

A good part of the funds raised will be donated to the Huellas de Bondad Foundation, to support its work of training and empowering people committed to community service.

To provide support to the residents of the La Candelaria parish and all of Caracas, Bancamiga inaugurated this Thursday the Cardenal Jorge Urosa Savino XV Archbishop of Caracas Medicine Bank.

The act was attended by the current Archbishop of Caracas, Baltazar Porras; the parish priest and rector of the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria sanctuary, Gerardino Barracchini; the Chairman of the Bancamiga Board of Directors, Carmelo De Grazia; the Executive President of Bancamiga, Ariel Martínez; and the Bancamiga ambassador and universal viceroy of beauty, Amanda Dudamel, among other prominent personalities.

Last year, Bancamiga conditioned and endowed this space that will offer a very important social service for Venezuelans. During the last months, work has been done together with the parish priest and rector of the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria sanctuary, Gerardino Barracchini and María Alvarado, in charge of the pharmacy, so that in this place citizens can find medicines for almost all pathologies.

Although it was this February 16 when its formal inauguration took place, the Medicines Bank has been operating for about seven months, benefiting 767 people so far and with a radius of action that extends to the entire city of Caracas. Even 400 drugs were donated to the Multidisciplinary Research and Service Camp of the Central University of Venezuela that collaborates with communities in the south of the country. Medicines are provided free of charge.

“What at first emerged as a small service, gradually grew. I am pleased that this place bears the name of Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, who was always attentive to the sick and the health of Venezuelans,” said Cardinal Baltazar Porras.

He expressed that the Medicine Bank is there to serve everyone, whoever needs it. “We thank Bancamiga for their support and we hope this will serve as an encouragement for others,” he stressed.

Barracchini explained that the medicines are received from the Italian NGO ALI (Latin American Association in Italy) and from the San Felipe Neri Hospital in Rome, through Father Ricardo Pirela, a Venezuelan who has lived in Rome for 30 years. The reception is every three months.

He publicly recognized Bancamiga for conditioning and equipping the place. “Without the help of private companies, it would be practically impossible to carry out this type of initiative. Today we are very pleased with this Medicine Bank that bears the name of a good friend, a man who did a lot for the Church and whose family is with us today”.

A button for Amanda Dudamel; Christian charity works for society                      

The Executive President of Bancamiga, Ariel José Martínez, expressed pride in being part of an innovative project that benefits Venezuelans and is promoted hand in hand with the Catholic Church. “It was hard work and took months, where we must thank the De Grazia family for their commitment and drive”, he highlighted.

The physical conditioning of the place included masonry, blacksmithing, painting, air conditioning and the establishment of a technological infrastructure for the registration and control of donations. The refrigerator to refrigerate insulin delivered by Bancamiga has been fundamental in this path of facing a chronic disease such as diabetes that affects so many Venezuelans.

During the act, Amanda Dudamel received a button from the Cardinal with the monogram of José Gregorio Hernández, the work of the goldsmith Arcángelo Giandoni, whose pieces adorn the urn of the Blessed. Baltazar Porras also presented him with the Holy Rosary blessed by Pope Francis. “This recognition is for a Venezuelan who has raised the name of Venezuela,” said Cardinal Porras.

The designer, entrepreneur and viceroy of universal beauty thanked the delivery of the button and the “beautiful path” that she is starting with Bancamiga, an institution with which she will promote many positive projects for the country.

The Medicine Bank is located in the parish house of the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Sanctuary, on Urdaneta Avenue, in front of the Casa Bera shopping center.
