Tiktok is working on new ways to classify their contents and restrict them to certain hearings according to their characteristics and thematic, with the aim that minors have higher restrictions on the consumption of videos aimed at adult users.

The application seeks to filter and organize the videos based on the most comfortable “content maturity and thematic areas” for users, as indicated by the Tiktok emission policies, Tracy Elizabeth.

The directive indicated that once this classification system has been launched, the contents that have been ideated as being of adult thematic may be restricted to users according to their age to prevent adolescents from accessing harmful information.

On the contrary, for those contents that are of “less mature” issues or of open consumption and not specifically intended to adults, users of the platform may decide whether to visualize them or omit them.

Elizabeth added that the goal is to offer the possibility to the users of choosing “the category with which they feel more comfortable” and, although it has only commented that it is a “innovation phase” system, it could seem to a Classification similar to that used in movies or videogames.

This new “New To You” tab is available, through Andoid Police, on the YouTube home page for mobile devices, web pages and smart TVs.

Generally, the feed on the YouTube home page is made up of the content of the artists, authors and inventors that you normally follow, but with this new tab you can find new content from creators you don’t know.

The goal of “New to you” is to provide visibility to lesser known creators. YouTube notes “that the feature goes beyond the typical content recommendations you receive in your feed and tries to expose you to new content and creators that you haven’t explored.”

The YouTube New to You tab comes to enhance the user experience and the reach of the creators, improving the user experience in getting more accurate recommendations for unknown channels for users. While for creators it is an opportunity to position themselves and reach new users that will allow them to increase their audience.

For all content creators for specific segments, it is very likely that from now on they will begin to appear in the new “New to You” tab of YouTube.
