Committed to creating safe spaces and improving access to healthcare for all Venezuelans, the Fundación Venemergencia inaugurated a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in the nation’s capital city. This device is the 33rd installed by the institution, this time in partnership with Metromedia and the Caracas Metro. The crowded La Hoyada station is now officially part of the Venemergencia Group’s Public Access Defibrillation Program (PAD).

The inaugural event was attended by representatives of the subway system and members of the foundation team. With this step, one of the city’s busiest pedestrian stations becomes a benchmark for public safety and preventative healthcare for the thousands of users who pass through its facilities daily.

Medical technology in the heart of the city

During the event, Caracas Metro authorities highlighted the impact of this initiative at such a crucial point in the mass transit system, emphasizing the value of having cutting-edge medical technology readily available to the public to address critical situations immediately.

Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and CEO of Venemergencia, highlighted the social impact of this achievement: “Installing the 33rd AED at the La Hoyada station of the Caracas Metro is a historic step for Venemergencia. A modern city is not only measured by its infrastructure, but also by its capacity to protect the lives of its people; this project reflects our responsibility to actively contribute to solving real needs and building a more humane and prepared Venezuela.”

Training for frontline personnel

As an integral part of the event, the Venemergencia Foundation conducted Basic Life Support courses for the station’s operational and security personnel, as well as for all Metro system users who came to interact with the simulators and learn CPR. These practical sessions allowed the Caracas Metro team and security agencies working in the area to be instructed on how to act promptly in a cardiovascular emergency using the AED correctly.

With this new cardioprotected zone, the Fundación Venemergencia continues to strengthen its social impact programs. This inauguration not only celebrates reaching the 33rd such facility, but also reaffirms the institution’s commitment to continue traveling throughout Venezuela, implementing innovative solutions and uniting efforts to positively transform the well-being and safety of all Venezuelans, concludes the official statement.
