Hines hinted at this in a recent interview, while not ruling out that “the revaluation of the government’s gold holdings could contribute to these ends.”

In this regard, it is important to highlight that while President Donald Trump’s tariffs impact global financial markets, Hines, as executive director of the Presidential Council of Digital Asset Advisors, raised the possibility of using the revenue from these trade tariffs to purchase bitcoin.

The official said in an interview with Anthony Pompliano that “the Trump administration is exploring various budget-neutral methods to obtain more bitcoin for the national reserve without burdening taxpayers.”

Trump has tapped Hines as a key player in a sweeping effort to create cryptocurrency-friendly regulations and reverse the Biden administration’s crypto sector measures. For his part, Hines maintains that Trump is willing to fulfill his campaign promises regarding cryptocurrencies.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, Bukele announced the measure that has been in force since November 17, which strengthens the adoption of Bitcoin as the official currency of commerce in the Central American country.

Since 2021, the government of El Salvador maintains the periodic purchase of Bitcoin. In May, he bought 500 cryptocurrencies for a total of $15.3 million; and in July he acquired 80 BTC at $19,000 each.

Nayin Bukele maintains his enthusiasm for the adoption of Bitcoin in the country, despite strong criticism from his adversaries and warnings from the International Monetary Fund.

Amid martial law, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) restricted purchases of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

As indicated by the financial institution, this seeks to prevent the outflow of capital in the midst of the war that is taking place with Russia.

Ukrainians are now allowed to buy bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies only with foreign currency, with total monthly purchases capped at $3,300. The corresponding limit also applies to international peer-to-peer transactions.

“Relevant changes will help improve the foreign exchange market, which is a necessary requirement for easing restrictions in the future, as well as reducing pressure on Ukraine’s international reserves“, the NBU wrote.

The need to carry out international transactions has grown, according to the Ukrainian institution, given that millions of citizens have been forced to leave their country.

According to the NBU, the Ukrainian government adopted the relevant changes as part of the resolution of the national bank council of April 20, 2022, which entered into force on Wednesday.
