A trade mission of approximately 20 Colombian companies will visit Venezuela between May 21 and 25 to strengthen binational trade ties and explore investment possibilities in Colombia.

Representations of these companies will visit the capital, Caracas, and the city of Valencia, Carabobo state, for this important commercial contact.

According to the latest report from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE), external sales to the neighboring country between January and February 2024 reached USD 113.8 million, which represents an increase of 25.9 % compared to the same two-month period. of 2023.

It is in this context, described as positive, that the National Foreign Trade Association (Analdex) has organized this business mission with 20 companies to carry out various commercial activities in Venezuelan territory, taking into account the success of the first trade mission last year.

For the 2024 meetings, the ally “is the Institute of Higher Administration Studies (IESA) of Venezuela. Visits to an innovation center, the La Guaira port and participation in the ExpoFedecámaras Carabobo fair are also planned.”

Trade between Venezuela and Colombia was positive in 2023

It is estimated that last year “exports from Colombia to Venezuela registered US$ 673.4 million, with an increase of 6 % compared to 2022. The most exported goods were sugar confectionery, plastic in primary forms, bakery and milling products. , iron or steel manufactures, and fertilizers.”

The departments of Colombia that exported the most to Venezuela in 2023 are Bogotá, Valle del Cauca, Bolívar, Norte de Santander, Atlántico, Antioquia and Cundinamarca.

This year, the business meetings are aimed at “providing an immersion in the Venezuelan economic and business context, and facilitating networking with Venezuelan businessmen, who could generate business opportunities,” according to Javier Díaz, president of Analdex.
