The agency highlighted that the Fitbit company is voluntarily withdrawing “one million devices sold in the United States and another 693,000 that were sold internationally” and urged all users who “own a Fitbit Ionic watch to stop using the device.”

Fitbit received at least 174 reports globally alleging “watch battery overheating” and “78 reports of burn injuries in the United States, including two reports of third-degree burns and four reports of head burns.” second grade,” the agency said.

User safety is the priority

The CPSC also noted that the company will provide consumers with a $299 refund after returning the watch to Fitbit. The company will also provide participating customers with “a 40 % discount code on select devices from that company.”

The Fitbit spokeswoman, Andrea Holing, confirmed the return of the product through an interview with CNN Business and clarified that the number of reports with injuries represents “less than 0.01% of the units sold”, indicating that the safety of users will be “always Fitbit’s top priority.”

Fitbit posted on its website that its Ionic model watches were showcased in 2017 and production ceased in 2020.

According to the IVIC, it is just a few steps away from starting two new protocols and they assure that the UTC will be a pioneer in Venezuela regarding corneal regeneration.

“We have been working hard for more than a year and we are ready to apply this treatment,” explained Dr. José Cardier, head of the UTC, during his participation in the videoconference held for the 62nd anniversary of the IVIC.

He assured that Venezuela also made a huge leap in this field of regenerative medicine, mainly because the UTC of the IVIC has a team of scientists of very high level and commitment.
