The Nuevas Ideas party of El Salvador published on its website the results of the internal elections, where the current president of the country, Nayib Bukele, obtained the necessary votes to register his candidacy for the presidential elections on February 28, 2027.

Although the report does not show the percentage of votes obtained by Bukele or if there was another candidate, the truth is that the current president must register his candidacy with the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) before November 19, 2026.

This would be the third term for Bukele, currently 44 years old, amid stories for and against his internal policies on security and finance. Despite the situation, Bukele maintains a high percentage of popularity thanks to the reduction in violence and control of armed gangs.
