+This week, the Brazilian bank Pactual announced the launch of the central bank coin BTG Dol. It is linked to the dollar, according to the bank.

The first digital currency in the world that has been issued by a bank has been baptized BTG Dol, and will be available on the Mynt digital asset platform, which belongs to BTG Pactual.

According to the bank, “bitcoin trading and 21 other cryptocurrencies are already offered, including some stable-listed ones.” The security framework will be in charge of the BTG Pactual, to face crimes such as money laundering as well as compliance processes.

With this cryptographic currency, investors will have the opportunity to “easily dollarize part of their assets,” according to André Portilho, the entity’s director of digital assets.

It is important to note that BTG Pactual is the largest investment bank in Latin America. Its assets were estimated, at the end of 2022, at 450.6 billion reais (about 89 billion dollars).
