The notice will tell the Internet user “that they must update to a more recent version to reactivate synchronization and access their account data.”

The Chrome Sync system gives access to “settings and information saved in the browser from different devices through the Google account.” This means that through the system, queries are made for favorites, passwords and extensions “without having to save them again each time Chrome is used.”

If Chrome cannot be updated, it will be impossible to access information stored on other devices or “recover your data if you reinstall the browser”.

With the update, Google is aiming to stabilize the browser, as well as reduce the risk of access by cybercriminals through obsolete versions.

There will be changes so that the sessions are more private and personal, as indicated by Google, since they have given a new direction to the topic due to complaints from advertisers.

The argument is that if they are eliminated, it would be “more difficult to reach the client with the thoroughness they enjoyed until now.”

For now, the cookies will remain, but there will be new features “so that users can make their own decisions when it comes to managing third-party cookies, which means that a new configuration menu will be released that will allow them to improve the user experience. a more appropriate cookie profile for each user.”

Google will offer the option to deactivate them totally or partially according to personal preferences from a new configuration menu, thereby adjusting to the authorities’ demands regarding transparency.

The decision has been agreed with the regulators, “who are aware of the changes that Google is introducing in Chrome to improve privacy regarding the use of third-party cookies.”

The test that TikTok has started shows a link to Google Search when the user enters the keywords of what they want to consult in the social network’s search bar, as application researcher Radu Oncescu first shared in his profile on social network X.

This link opens an integrated browser and collects the search results offered by the technology giant, with the warning that TikTok is not responsible for said results.

A spokesperson for the social network has confirmed to Business Insider that they are experimenting globally and in different markets with integrations from third-party companies, including Google. He has also clarified that it is not an ad unit.

The platform updated its browser for iOS with one of its most outstanding features: the free VPN, which is already available in early access, but will reach all users in the coming weeks.

This novelty makes Opera “the first browser company to offer an integrated VPN, free, on all platforms”, as the company itself points out on its official blog. This is: Mac, Windows, Linux, Android and iOS.

To use this VPN you do not have to pay a subscription or log in. It is a feature built into the browser that protects the user’s network when connected to the Internet. With it, it guarantees anonymity and “secure and fast access to virtual locations around the world.”

Behind Bing Image Creator is an advanced version of Dall-E, the OpenIA image generator that only needs a text premise to create high-quality content.

Now, Microsoft announced that this creator has been integrated into previous versions of the Bing search engine and the Edge browser, where it works together with the chatbot. “Now you can generate written and visual content in one place,” they point out from the company in the official blog.

In the browser preview, this new tool is implemented in the creative mode of the chatbot. “By writing a description of an image, providing additional context such as location or activity, and choosing an art style, Image Creator will generate an image from your own imagination,” they explain from Microsoft.

For its part, Edge becomes “the first and only browser with an integrated image generator powered by AI.” Here, Image Creator is available to everyone in English, in a dedicated icon in the sidebar.

Tor is a platform that allows access to the platform now owned by Elon Musk and that allows you to consult web pages privately, avoiding censorship in certain areas and hiding browsing data.

The social network launched a version as a Tor Onion service in March 2022 just a few days after Russia’s communications regulatory agency, Roskomnadzor, blocked access to Facebook and Twitter within Russian territory due to the war with Ukraine.

The social network Twitter would have decided to discontinue this service focused on the protection of privacy, according to the error page that is displayed when trying to access this service.

For his part, Tor Project’s communications director, Pavel Zoneff, announced that he has been in contact to re-establish the online service, but at the moment the platform’s plans are unknown.

The technology company presented the new versions of its Bing search engine and its Edge browser at the beginning of February, when it indicated that from then on they would be based on the ChatGPT chatbot, developed by OpenAI.

The company now commented that the new Bing already has a shortcut in the Windows 11 interface, by being integrated into its taskbar, with a search box in which you can type to get all the results.

This feature is available to Bing preview users, who will need to install the latest search engine update to access it.

Along with this new functionality, Microsoft presented a series of features focused on connectivity with Phone Link, which is already available for iOS and has updated its version for Android in order to strengthen the link between terminals and Windows PCs.

The Mountain View company has highlighted the growing relevance of video conferencing in recent years in a statement posted on its Artificial Intelligence (AI) blog.

As a result, Google has included new features in its Meet service, such as implementing cloud rendering to improve background effects and reduce device power consumption during video calls.

These effects are made possible by machine learning models that Google Meet runs directly from the user’s browser without the need to install additional software.

Until now, the CPU of a computer has been in charge of processing these Google machine learning models. With the latest Meet update, the GPU will be the one to perform this task.

Google Meet update promises greater efficiency

To do this, the company has implemented in this update a new segmentation model based on high-resolution (HD) input images, instead of low-resolution images, as before. A change that allows you to double the resolution compared to the previous model, according to Google.

However, their calculations indicate that doubling the resolution of the input quadruples the computational cost. A toll that the CPU of many devices cannot pay as it is limited by the HD segmentation that it must execute in parallel.

Given this context, Google Meet will begin to rely on the GPU of mid-range and high-end equipment, which integrates more powerful components. The technology company believes that the low-performance cores contained in this unit are ideal for processing high-resolution convulsive models, which in turn will reduce the use of computer resources.

The Mountain View company controls your browser through a so-called Manifest, a text file that lists some of the browser extensions’ specifications.

In this document, the company defines what system resources are available, the permissions it grants to extensions, or the application programming interfaces (APIs) whose functionality they have access to.

The company published a proposal for changes to its open source browser base, Chromium, in which it detailed a series of measures applied to a specific API, WebRequest. Due to these changes, most ad blocker features would be removed.

So, Google justified that, with this action, it sought to improve the speed of the browser by not having to depend on these extensions to filter network requests. He also said that this would protect the privacy of users.

The company announced the end of Explorer support for its Microsoft 365 online ecosystem services in May of last year, when it indicated that the browser’s desktop app would no longer be supported for certain versions of Windows 10.

“With Microsoft Edge, we provide a path to the future of the web while respecting the past of the web. Change was necessary, but we didn’t want to leave behind apps and sites that were trusted and still work”, the company said at the time.

In the statement that formalized the end of Internet Explorer, updated at the end of last May, he explained that Edge not only offered greater security and was more modern than its predecessor, but also guaranteed “compatibility with websites and applications old and inherited from other programs”.

The withdrawal of support for Internet Explorer 11 will not affect server-based browser applications or the Windows 10 Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) or the Trident MSHTML engine.
