The recent summit held in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, and organized by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, culminated in the signing of the Brasilia Consensus by the participants.

The declaration reflects the intention of the leaders to delve into strategic and critical issues in Latin America such as social justice, sustainable development, climate change, the defense of sovereignty, integration, among others.

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Uruguay, Suriname, Venezuela and Peru must name their delegates to present their integration proposals in the next four months.

Among the challenges they seek to face are threats to peace, the climate issue, the geopolitics of the region, food and energy issues, new pandemics, as well as political and institutional stability and democracy.

To channel the proposals, some leaders propose the return of Unasur, as a mechanism for dialogue and political agreement. However, the proposal does not have full support in the region.
