“I’m happy to be fighting again in Venezuela,” said the former world champion of the Light Flyweight category of the World Boxing Association. “I have already faced several Mexicans and I know that it is not easy to defeat them, but we are prepared to win this title.” It will not be the first time that Cañizales will jump into the ring at the Poliedro, the scene in which in 2015 he beat the Colombian Rober Barrera to obtain the WBA Fedelatin Mini Flyweight belt.

“Here I was crowned Fedelatin champion and here I am going to be crowned world champion,” he emphasized. “I promise Venezuela that this title stays here.”

William Pérez, boxing promoter and manager of Cañizales, mentioned that “although the Silver world title of the category will be at stake, there is the possibility that it will be the regular world title.” “We are waiting for some answers from the WBC about that possibility, but we are already ready and waiting for July 19 to be in action here,” Pérez said.

While Nicolás Hidalgo, representative of the World Boxing Council, pointed out that “a great effort is being made to lift up Venezuelan boxing,” because “very important guests are coming to enhance this programming.”

Joge Linares, former world champion and protagonist in 2015 of the last major boxing card in Venezuela at the Poliedro de Caracas itself, will be one of the special guests who will give greater importance to the event.
