Boeing recommends suspending the operations of the 69 777 aircraft in service and the 69 in storage equipped with the ‘Pratt & Whitney’ 4000-112 engines, a model that suffered an incident last Saturday in the United States with the United Airlines, until the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identify the proper inspection protocol.

The aeronautical manufacturer indicated through a statement that it is actively following the recent events related to this flight, which is already being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Therefore, Boeing supports the decision of the FAA and the Office of Civil Aviation of Japan, two of the countries where the model operates, to suspend operations with these aircraft. In a statement, the manufacturer ensures that it is working with these regulators to take the necessary measures.

The United Airlines flight between Denver and Honolulu suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff, for which it returned to the departure airport, where it was received by emergency crews as a precautionary measure, although no one was injured. Therefore, the airline decided to voluntarily and temporarily withdraw its 24 aircraft models from the schedule.

The 777 with the ‘Pratt & Whitney’ 4000-112 engine thus joins the veto of the 737 MAX, which has remained on the ground since March 2019 after registering two fatal accidents in less than six months, although it has already finalized the certifications for the operateions restart.
