The price crisis in the cryptocurrency market is prompting speculation about a new crypto winter, although some analysts believe this process began in late 2025.

It’s no secret that the price of Bitcoin has fallen in recent months, and this trend has intensified since the beginning of 2026. In this scenario, “while the price of Bitcoin continues its downward spiral and altcoins accumulate double-digit losses, attention is divided between dire warnings and more structural analyses of what is happening.”

The truth is that some market experts, like investor Michael Burry, predict that “a Bitcoin decline could trigger a chain reaction of forced selling that wouldn’t be limited to the crypto ecosystem, but would extend to other assets, including precious metals,” referring to gold and silver, whose prices are currently facing a crisis.

Regarding Bitcoin, Burry says there is no organic factor that justifies a short-term stabilization; in fact, he anticipates a decline to around $50,000, “a level that would put pressure on mining companies and the financial models built around the asset.”

In the current scenario, any selling by major Bitcoin holding companies could worsen the crypto dynamics. According to Japanese specialist Hiroyuki Kato of CXR Engineering, the “buy on the dip” strategy has shifted to more defensive approaches, including short positions.

Regarding whether there will be another major bull run, analysts say yes, but it will depend on two conditions that are still lacking: “the emergence of a truly disruptive use case in the less regulated segments and a favorable macroeconomic context.” Meanwhile, the crypto sector is navigating uncharted territory, “which doesn’t quite fit the logic of winter or spring, but rather an intermediate phase that is redefining the rules of the game.”

According to the company, once it returns to “0”, it historically “the end of a bottom and the beginning of an upward continuation” occurs.

The trend appears to be continuing downward, also driven by the “broader sell-off across several assets, which has caused Bitcoin trading volume to decline 2.4%, to a total of $25.8 billion.”

The specialist notes that the release of the PCE inflation rate is still awaited, as that data could trigger strong selling pressure, which would further drive Bitcoin down.
