House Republicans expressed support for a process that could lead to Biden’s impeachment, thus facing the maximum penalty for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” as the Constitution describes it.

This authorization guarantees the extension of the investigation until 2024, coinciding with the possible re-election of Biden and the probable confrontation with former President Donald Trump, who faced two political trials during his term.

In a joint statement after the vote, President Mike Johnson and his team emphasized that they will not prejudge the outcome of the investigation, but underscored the importance of the evidentiary record. The decision to hold the vote was made amid growing pressure to move forward on the nearly year-old investigation focused on the Biden family’s businesses.

Although the investigation has raised ethical questions, so far no conclusive evidence of bribery or corruption on the part of Biden, either in his current position or in his previous role as vice president, has been found.

“We will not subsidize Putin’s war”, Biden said, in an appearance in which he advocates continuing to pressure Russia in “the most significant package of economic sanctions in history.”

Biden, who reviewed some of the measures taken against the European country after the start of the invasion of Ukraine, indicated that the United States will increase oil production to counteract the progressive energy isolation.

However, he assumes that “defending democracy will have costs” for the average American citizen. “Putin’s war is already hitting America’s families at the fuel depot”, he has said, alluding to a price hike of up to 75 cents that is likely to “go higher.”

The United States and the European Union have practically gone hand in hand on punishment since Putin recognized the independence of the separatist regions of eastern Ukraine and ordered the invasion of this country. However, this time Biden has limited himself to communicating the last step to his allies, knowing that Washington should go it alone if it wanted to act now.

Biden is working in coordination with a group of highly oil consuming countries such as China, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Korea, which require a lot of energy for the economies of their countries to operate.

The joint initiative was conceived and presented by the US and its intention is to bring oil prices down “mechanically“. US stocks are the world’s largest emergency supply and the release will begin around mid-December.

Oil prices intervention

According to the statements issued by a senior representative of the executive “it is possible that new interventions will be produced to stabilize the market, in response to a pandemic unique in the century.”

Joe Biden is willing to take other actions and exercise all his authority to maintain the adequate supply of oil so that the country functions properly in the midst of the pandemic, in addition to leading and managing measures with the other leaders and heads of countries that also register very high energy consumption levels.

On the other hand, some consumers consider that the drop in the price of oil, 10 % in recent days, has not had a direct impact on the cost of gasoline, which continues to increase for end consumers.

The information was provided through a statement issued by the White House where they reported that the decision seeks to mobilize capital from the private sector to promote projects in four areas: climate, health security, digital technology and gender equality, in addition to have investments from financial institutions.

The plan is an alternative to the project that China has been implementing called “One Belt, One Road”, a route, a belt, to revitalize the Silk Road through the modernization of infrastructure and telecommunications that facilitate connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Values-centered plan

According to the declarations issued by the US Government, this plan is a collaboration between large democracies to develop a project protected by “values, with high standards and transparent” that will reduce the infrastructure needs required by developing countries. which are in the order of 40 billion dollars, increasing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recently, a senior representative in the Biden administration criticized the Chinese “One Belt, One Road” plan for poor transparency and poor labor and environmental standards, as well as allegedly leaving many countries worse off.

Biden is pressuring the G7 to take “concrete action” against “forced labor” in northwest China’s Xinjiang province, where the Uighur minority lives.
