In a fresh and innovative format, Bancamiga started this year an audiovisual series that allowed to spread simple stories of great impact in the communities and in the country. The protagonists have in common their fight for a better Venezuela. This Tuesday the stories of a group of Venezuelans reached a new level, with the baptism of the book Historias Repetibles, the first literary work of the Bancamiga Editorial Fund.

The Editorial Fund is a new initiative of the Bancamiga Social Responsibility Department, with the aim of contributing to the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage, promoting reading and access to knowledge, and fostering collaboration between institutions, researchers, intellectuals and writers of different currents.

Through 12 stories, Historias Repetibles pays tribute to tradition and to those people who have dedicated their lives to natural conservation projects and to preserving culture. Also to those who inspire with their perseverance and boundless passion, whose achievements are passed on from generation to generation, and to those who are able to get up after a tragic life experience.

With each of the stories, readers will learn about the efforts of their protagonists to achieve their dreams. They will learn that in Caracas there are people who are in charge of prolonging the life of toys, that in Mérida an agronomist has been promoting a project for the registration and preservation of mucuchí dogs for 20 years, or that in Nueva Esparta 27 women are in charge of collecting oysters from the mangroves of La Restinga.

These are stories that, despite having a very different context and development, have as protagonists mothers and fathers, workers and housewives who strive from their trenches for the common good. This is what Lilian Gluck and her team of volunteers do, who have managed to recover and recycle 60,000 stuffed animals, toys, educational games and dolls; Edgar Albarrán, at almost 3,000 meters above sea level in the state of Mérida, by creating Mucuchilandia with the aim of rescuing the Mucuchí race, and Érika Fernández and her oyster farmers, heirs to the art of collecting and cultivating the mangrove oyster, who fight on Margarita Island to transmit this tradition to the new generations. And there are many other stories like these.

During the event held at the PB of Cubo Negro, the President of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, José Simón Elarba, expressed that the quality of the publications and their contribution to the development of the country will allow the Editorial Fund to become “a national and international reference; in addition to promoting the creation of spaces for participation by renowned authors, allies and interest groups for the organization.”

For the first half of next year, the Fund plans to publish the Manual for entrepreneurs; Answers to 10 key questions for entrepreneurship in Venezuela, a project in which experts participate in order to support those who have business initiatives in the country.

Bancamiga: A tribute to every Venezuelan

In the 184 pages of Repeatable Stories, Venezuelans will get to know Belkis García in A New Dimension of Triumph; Lieska Mofi in Guardians of a Plant Temple; Susanne Zielke and Astrid Rudman in The Voice of Clay; Clemente Balladares in Gardeners of the Sea and Julio Carrillo in Joy between Two Worlds.

They will also meet the multi-faceted Petare in the voice of César Fernández, Alexis Montesino and Doris Pereira; Haidy Collin in Venezuela German is spoken; Érika Fernández in Margariteñas, harvesting mangroves; Lilian Gluck and the sixty thousand illusions; Greisly Avendaño and the new realities of wood; Edgar Albarrán in Mucuchíes: Preserving canine pride in Venezuela; and Juan Carlos Rodríguez and his wife Haydeé Rodríguez in Chuwie: The sloth that awakened consciences.

“With this first publication we are demonstrating our work as a socially responsible company, which contributes strongly to the traditional and cultural memory of the country. Historias Repetibles is a tribute to each Venezuelan fighter, the protagonist of each of the stories told here and which represent the thousands of inhabitants of this blessed land of natural and human wealth,” Bancamiga highlights on page 5 of this work filled with photographs by Gustavo Alemán Troconiz and texts by Nahir Márquez.

With this editorial initiative, Bancamiga once again reaffirms its commitment to carry out programs and projects capable of positively transforming society and building a better Venezuela.

Due to his resilience and ability to fight, Belkis García recently starred in one of the chapters of the Bancamiga audiovisual series “Repeatable Stories.” This Venezuelan, athlete and educator was involved in a traffic accident in 1991, when a truck collided with the car where she was traveling with some friends.

He recalled that the vehicle fell into an abyss and caught fire, which caused burns on 75% of his body. He lost the fingers of his right hand and the forearm of his left hand. None of that stopped him from continuing to work for his dreams and this Saturday, August 24, he will see one more fulfilled, when at the Doka ranch in Costa Rica he goes out to represent Venezuela in the OCR (obstacle course race) world championship.

“There is a phrase that I always keep in mind: the limit is in your mind. I like the competitiveness and being in this World Cup, facing rivals from other countries, is a way to see how far I am capable of going.”

García, who travels to the World Cup with the support of Bancamiga, explained that OCR is a sporting discipline in which participants must overcome obstacles on a specific route, which in their case will be 15 kilometers.

According to the official website, the event will take place between August 22 and 25, in two venues: at the national stadium of Costa Rica, located in the city of San José, and at the Doka farm, in the province of Alajuela, about 36 kilometers from the capital.

García: “Bancamiga is the best thing that has happened to me”

For this teacher it will be “a wonderful experience” and “I am full of expectations because I will compete in the Adapted OCR category with rivals from different countries.”

“On the journey we must overcome 50 obstacles such as walls, carry heavy objects, climb ropes, move rubber or crawl. I think the most difficult thing about this competition is the diversity of obstacles and its high level of demand,” said García, a teacher at the María Auxiliadora High School, in Corralito, El Hatillo, who also gives tasks aimed at low-income young people at the Hatillano Meeting.

The President of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga, José Simón Elarba, expressed that García’s presence at the World Cup in Costa Rica reaffirms the importance for the institution of promoting success stories that inspire others to fight for what they long for, despite the adversities they may face in life.

“At Bancamiga we are sure that the national tricolor will be held high in the World Cup,” added Elarba.

García maintained that the support offered by Bancamiga to both her and her coach, Jhon Hidalgo, has been fundamental, because otherwise “it would never have been possible to participate” in this competition.

“Having the support of Bancamiga is the best thing that has happened to me,” added this athlete who trains at the Simón Bolívar University facilities in Sartenejas and who will return this Saturday “to prove myself.”
