Grasso Vecchio affirmed that “the interest has moved from inquiries to technical planning; he also assured that there are strong responses from people who are discussing figures, concrete projects that will be seen in the coming months.”

According to the official, this dynamism is reflected in “the local stock market index, which has already registered a 200 % increase so far this year.”

Grasso Vecchio indicated that key sectors, such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and agribusiness, are attracting the attention of foreign investors thanks to the easing of sanctions by the United States and the reopening of Venezuela’s relations with the IMF and the World Bank.

From his perspective, the Venezuelan market currently has “all the conditions to compete internationally, focusing on providing confidence to those who see the country as a strategic place to invest in this new economic phase.”

Nevertheless, crypto adoption continues to increase in Latin America and Central America, while regulations are tightening in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Recent reports indicate that some 270 cryptocurrency companies have applied to operate in El Salvador. This has been confirmed by Juan Carlos Reyes, president of the National Digital Assets Commission.

On the other hand, in Venezuela, which is undergoing political and economic change following the US intervention in January, a new boost in cryptocurrency mining is expected thanks to new OFAC licenses in the energy sector and Donald Trump’s decision to ease sanctions on the national electricity system.

Colombia, meanwhile, is finalizing the details of a cryptocurrency law, although without the participation of the industrial sector. At the same time, the banking sector is analyzing issues such as tokenization and digital assets.

Argentina is moving towards openness, with cryptocurrency adoption around 20 % and Jair Milei’s government authorizing traditional banks to offer digital asset services to their clients.

Stricter regulations and prevention of cryptocurrency crime

In Europe, Spain has tightened regulations. In this regard, the Spanish Tax Agency is now holding a public consultation on the new tax forms (042, 172, 175) for declaring cryptocurrencies, in order to comply with the regional regulation DAC8, from January of this year. The measure strengthens control over balances and transactions, as well as requiring platforms to automatically report them.

(Reference image source: Kanchanara on Unsplash)

In Australia, on the other hand, crypto adoption is among the highest, at 23 % of the total. And although trading is entirely legal, in 2025 the Australian Senate passed the Companies Amendment Bill (Digital Asset Framework), which requires exchanges to hold a financial services license to protect users. Furthermore, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) levies taxes on capital gains.

Asia maintains a strong stance in favor of strict regulatory compliance in countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and even Russia. Throughout the region, anti-money laundering regulations are rigorous, and penalties for violating domestic laws are severe.

China’s industrial production grew 6.3 % from January to May. This sector is key to the Asian nation’s economy, as it serves as a benchmark for measuring the activity of large companies with annual revenues of at least 20 million yuan (about $2.79 million) from their core business.

This boost to the industrial sector is the result of effective policy support and continuous improvements, which have enabled relatively rapid expansion last month, “demonstrating strong resilience and potential,” said bureau spokesperson Fu Linghui.

The official highlighted strong expansion in high-end manufacturing, the digital economy, and the new energy sector. Specifically, last month saw an increase in production of 3D printing equipment. as well as industrial robots and new energy vehicles, by 40, 35.5, and 31.7 percent year-on-year, respectively.

According to official instructions, the Chinese government’s decision includes “the freezing of orders for US spare parts and equipment.”

As a trigger for this decision, they have cited China’s 125 % tariffs on US products, a reciprocal response to the 145 % levies previously imposed by Washington.

According to Bloomberg, the consequences of these tariffs would be devastating, “not only doubling the cost of Boeing aircraft, but also making operations with these aircraft financially unviable in the Chinese market.”

According to the Aviation Flights Group, China would only allow, on an exceptional basis, the partial delivery of 10 737 Max aircraft that had already been ordered by China Southern Airlines, Air China, and Xiamen Airlines, provided that the procedures were completed before April 12.

In September, various high-profile attacks were carried out on various cryptocurrency platforms, with devastating effects. “The hardest hit was against BingX, a Singapore-based exchange, which lost around $44 million in a single incident, placing itself as the most affected platform in September. This attack highlights previous vulnerabilities in their security infrastructure and represents a considerable portion of the $409 million stolen by hackers in the third quarter of 2024.”

In the case of Penpie, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, the losses were quantified at $27 million. Then there is Indotax, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in Indonesia, with the theft of $21 million.

The trend in the increase of attacks on crypto platforms in the Asian region worries the different exchanges due to the vulnerability that makes them a “common target for hackers who exploit security gaps in these rapidly growing markets.”

Other major incidents were recorded during September 2024, including the one perpetrated on DeltaPrime, with losses of almost $6 million; Truflation, “which reported a theft of $5.6 million.

Additionally, smaller platforms such as Shezmu, Onyx, BananaGun, Bedrock, and CUT also suffered attacks, with losses ranging from $1.4 to $4.9 million.”

One of the most serious attacks recorded last month was via phishing, and reached $32.4 million “via $spWETH signatures. Although this incident was not included in the official figures reported by PeckShield.”

The World Robotics Report notes that, in terms of the most recent additions, around 70 % are in Asia; 17 % in Europe and 10 % in America, especially in the United States.

The Federation highlights the process of automation after the Covid-19 pandemic, pointing out that in 2023 there was a slowdown in some of the countries that led this push. “Annual installations declined by 5 % in China compared to 2022,” although it managed to install more than half of the world’s new industrial robots.

In the case of the United States, “efforts to relocate production have led to an uptick in installations over the past few years, although the figure for 2023 was slightly lower than the previous year, as was also the case in Japan and Korea.”

Germany, for its part, maintained its lead among the top five automation countries with an acceleration in the incorporation of robots in 2023 compared to 2022. “The second and third-largest European markets, Italy and France, recorded declines.”

Specific factors such as the war in Ukraine, as well as the strong monetary policy and the “relative weakness of the European automotive industry compared to that of China” represent a brake on investment.

Regarding the rapid incorporation of robots into the market, Marina Bill, president of the International Federation of Robotics, noted that it has doubled since 2018 and added: “India is one of the fastest growing economies among emerging Asian markets.” In fact, the report details that in the Asian country installations “increased 59 % to reach a record 8,510 units last year, driven by demand from the automotive industry.”
