BBVA will take its Aqua card model to Mexico, where more than one million cards have already been issued since June, and also to Peru and Colombia, the institution reported in a statement.

The Aqua card is based on a dynamic CVV and the elimination of the numbering and the expiration date of the card. In Mexico this card is already available to new customers and will gradually replace other debit and credit cards at the time of renewal.

In addition, in September, BBVA Mexico will promote the sale of these new cards for both customers and the open market, according to the entity.

In Peru, the entity implemented the dynamic CVV and is working to renew the mobile experience and launch the clean numbering cards before the end of the year.

In Colombia, at the moment the PAN and the expiration date are maintained, but the CVV of the card has been deleted and the dynamic was released with the aim of issuing a totally new card in future developments.

BBVA points out that initially, in Spain, this card had been conceived as a complement to other cards, although its “great reception” has led to offering customers the option of replacing their main model with Aqua at the time of renewal. Thus, at the beginning of June 700,000 cards had already been issued in the country, while two months later” it has already exceeded one million.”

“With Aqua, in addition to renewing the value proposition of our cards, we are unifying the mobile experience of customers in all our geographical areas”, explains the director of Digital Payment Solutions at BBVA, Jorge Moreno.
