Donald Trump, President of the United States, postponed until April 2 the entry into force of tariffs on Mexico and Canada, while announcing an increase to 20 % for China starting March 4 and taxes for the European Union of 25 %.

The media reported that Trump ordered “a general tariff of 25 % on Mexico and Canada starting this Tuesday, March 4, after a one-month pause to try to agree on greater cooperation between both countries regarding the problems in the United States on migration, drug trafficking and national security and to stop, if necessary, the measure.”

Regarding the European Union, the president was clear in announcing that the tariffs on European Union products will be 25% in general; “they will apply to cars and everything.”

As a complaint, he pointed out that the EU takes advantage of the United States but does not accept its agricultural products or vehicles. In response to Trump’s statements, the European Union indicated that it will act “firmly and immediately” against the measure.
