Thanks to an agreement between Venezuela and China, the Caribbean country hopes to install 94 thousand solar panels in Mérida, in the Andean region, which will be interconnected with the National Electric System.

According to statements by the governor of Mérida, Jehyson Guzmán, the project is in the first phase “and is being developed at the Don Luis Zambrano thermoelectric plant.”

Guzmán stressed that the generation of between 50 and 53 megawatts is expected, which would be destined to “meet the energy demand in the south-west of the country.”

The national Executive appointed a commission that will be in charge of supervising the spaces where the solar panels will be installed in Mérida.
