The companies Oracle and Claro announced the signing of an agreement to create the first public cloud in Colombia. Through the América Móvil unit, they hope to provide service to customers throughout Latin America.

Colombia will become the fourth country in the region to have a public cloud, after Mexico, Brazil and Chile. According to Claro and Oracle spokespersons, the cloud will be able to benefit both private companies and the government sector in their digital transformation processes.

Both companies have considered the geographical position of Colombia as strategic in the search for technological solutions. In this sense, the agreement between Oracle and Claro Colombia, called América Móvil unit, will be in force for a period of 10 years.

Germán Borromei, general manager of Oracle for Colombia and Ecuador, told Reuters: “It is an agreement signed by both companies to redouble our commitment to the country. Two technological giants are bringing the first world-class public cloud to Colombian soil for the first time”.

For his part, Carlos Zenteno, president of Claro Colombia, assured that “the world-class public cloud will accelerate the digital transformation processes of private companies and public sector entities.”
