The latest version of Firefox for Android, Firefox 85, allows you to play DRM content (digital rights management, in Spanish) on platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
Firefox 85 for Android features software support for Google’s Widevine DRM, a solution that protects digital content from copying, and enables content to be streamed at up to 720p resolution on streaming platforms, according to GHacks.
Depending on the protection and level of encryption you set, Widevine DRM has three levels of security (L1, L2, L3, following the quality order of the implemented codec, from best to worst), which affects video processing.
With the new update, when trying to play DRM-protected content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, a tab appears asking for permission to continue. This function can be configured from the Site Permissions window within the Browser Settings.
Along with this novelty, Firefox 85 for Android incorporates improvements in the ease of use, memory optimizations and improvements in the selection of main web pages.
