The American company Amazon announced the implementation of an airlift, in alliance with the United States Department of State, the Airlink association and the UN World Food Program (WFP), for the distribution of humanitarian aid to Venezuela.

This measure seeks to establish specific guidelines and strategies for the distribution of aid to the South American country after the earthquakes of last June 24.

Through a statement, Bettina Stix, director of Community Impact at Amazon, indicated: “The airlift will channel supplies to trusted nonprofit organizations operating on the ground in Venezuela so they can immediately use them to serve the most affected people.”

For her part, Stephanie Hochstetter, director of the World Food Program in Venezuela, stressed that her staff “will coordinate the distribution and storage of aid that arrives on Amazon flights.”

Likewise, Tommy Pigott, spokesperson for the State Department, assured that “this will help ensure that vital assistance reaches Venezuela as quickly as possible.”
