YouTube is considering the option to block access to videos for those who use applications or software that prevent the display of ads.

A company spokesperson announced that they are conducting a global experiment to encourage viewers who use ad blockers to allow ads to play on YouTube or try YouTube Premium.

The importance YouTube places on disabling video playback was underscored: “In extreme cases, when viewers continue to use ad blockers, playback will be temporarily disabled.”

He added that viewers who feel they have been misidentified as ad blockers can share their comments by clicking the link in the ad.

As reported by the Android Authority, ad blocker detection is not a new practice, as other publishers also regularly ask viewers to disable ad blockers.
