Data and analytics firm GlobalData estimates in this field that Germany will reach “509.9 GW in 2035, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.7% between 2024 and 2035.”

According to the company, last year renewable energy accounted for “54.7 % of Germany’s electricity generation, led by wind and solar PV. By 2035, renewable generation is expected to reach 628 TWh, representing 82.9% of the energy mix, driven by the large-scale expansion of solar PV and the development of onshore and offshore wind farms.”

The goal for 2030, according to Mohammed Ziauddin, energy analyst at GlobalData, is to reach 80 % renewable generation, supported by its Renewable Energy Act (EEG), the National Hydrogen Strategy, and significant investment in modernizing the electricity grid.

But the European country still faces challenges, “such as grid congestion, the Dunkelflaute (periods of low renewable production), and the slow deployment of dispatchable gas-fired generation capacity to support intermittent renewables.”

Added to this are rising energy prices, uncertainty regarding regulatory frameworks, and lengthy permitting processes for wind projects that also limit deployment.

A study by the Nuremberg Employment Research Institute (IAB) published today points out that the main cause of this phenomenon is that many workers from the so-called “baby boomers” generation (those born between 1946 and 1964) will soon retire.

The problem could, however, be resolved, or at least mitigated, according to the IAB, if labor force participation rates were increased in the active population. For example, among older people and immigrant women and selective immigration will be successfully facilitated.

“By 2035, Germany will lose seven million workers due to demographic change and therefore one seventh of the labor market,” says IAB researcher Enzo Weber, one of the four authors of the study.

“But the contraction can be stopped if all the levers are put in place to keep older people in their jobs, strengthen the professional development of women, attract and integrate immigrants, further reduce unemployment and increase the rate of birth,” emphasizes Weber.

The report of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, published this Monday, indicates that the increase in the demand for crude will be the result of the “push of the African countries, India and other Asian countries, to feed the transports and the expansion of their middle classes.

According to the cartel, in 2021 global demand stood at 96.9 mbd; and by 2035 consumption would be at 109.5 mbd. Experts have indicated: “The demand of the OECD countries presents a declining trajectory after 2024, and will fall to 34 mbd” by the year 2045, compared to the demand of 2021, which reached 44.8 mbd, indicate the authors. Of the report.

At the same time, they point out that due to the expansion of the middle class, demographic growth and potential economic development in non-OPEC countries, the demand for crude oil will also rise, reaching 24 mbd.

Among the countries with the greatest impact on this increase in the demand for crude oil in the coming years and even until 2045 are China, India and other Asian countries, as well as African nations, “where economic progress, urbanization, industrialization and the expansion of the automobile fleet will be faster”, the organization has pointed out.
