Elon Musk, the mogul and owner of social media platform X, recently said he is working on bringing Vine back to the streaming segment. But, this time, it will be powered by artificial intelligence, Grok.
According to the mogul, who is also the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, and is accustomed to making surprise announcements, he announced this news on his X account, without giving further details. However, it is quite clear that the goal is to compete with TikTok.
Regarding Vine, it is a short video platform, a pioneer in the segment, launched in 2012 and acquired by Twitter, now X.
It allowed 6-second clips to be played on loop. But it was displaced in 2017 not only by the emergence of bolder competitors but also by a lack of monetization.
Vine’s return could be closer than expected, according to Musk, who ignited social media with the news of its relaunch, incorporating AI for automated content creation tools and algorithms to discover and recommend videos, generative filters, and editing assistants.
Undoubtedly, in the face of realities like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, Vine will have to offer something truly striking and unique. But we still have to wait for new revelations from Elon Musk about the app’s return.
