Elon Musk in the eye of the hurricane for publishing inaccurate information

The Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States (SEC) asked a judge for the arrest of Elon Musk for allegedly violating an agreement signed with the executive last year

Last year, Elon Musk was accused of fraud so he had to resign as president of Tesla and canceled a fine of 20 million dollars. The businessman signed an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States (SEC), in which he expressed that he should seek legal approval before tweeting any information that could materially and economically affect Tesla.

The agency maintains that Musk published a tweet on February 19th that contained inaccurate data and also did not have the prior approval of the company. In the post the executive of the firm mentions that Tesla did not manufacture cars in 2011 but that they will manufacture around 500,000 units in 2019.

For its part, the SEC asserts that Elon Musk did not seek approval from Tesla or from the board or legal counsel to publish the tweet in question, as agreed between the parties involved at the end of last year.

To prolong the whole dilemma, Musk said in December 2018 that he continued publishing in the aforementioned social network without requesting any kind of approval or permission and even sent messages discrediting the company’s commission. He also confirmed that he chose his replacement as chairman of the board of directors at Tesla.

Meanwhile, the company has not issued statements on the matter and the federal judge has not confirmed the date to hold the hearing that will evaluate the accusation for contempt.
