Ecuador will define the arrival of the 5G network in 2019
Statements by the director of Arcotel ensured that the authorities will discuss the use of this technology for next year
Despite the fact that several countries in Latin America have already begun to make progress on the issue of 5G technology, Ecuador will not address this issue until next year.
The director of Control of Services of the Agency of Regulation and Control of Telecommunications (Arcotel), Carlos Giler, said that despite this decision there is awareness that the nation can not “detach from the world reality.”
With 5G technology, the interconnection of objects could improve as well as the speed of navigation through the web.
“When international organizations talk about technological developments in mobile telephony and associate them with speed capabilities, rather than a change in technology they talk about a capacity that allows the network -whatever the name manufacturers give to them- for data connectivity,” Giler said.
For five years, in Ecuador have been operating with 4G technology thanks to the state-owned National Telecommunications Corporation (CNT), which then provided this network to Claro and Movistar.
