Ecuador exports its first shipment of gold

The Canadian company Lundin Gold in charge of the Fruta del Norte mine shipped 177.9 tons of the mineral to the international market

The Canadian company Lundin Gold, based in Vancouver, Canada, and with administrative office in Quito, Ecuador, has sent its first shipment of gold exceeding more than 177 tons of concentrated gold, as reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources No Renewable.

In a statement, the State portfolio responsible for directing electric, hydrocarbon and mining energy reported that “the Fruta del Norte mine, located in the province of Zamora Chinchipe (southeast and border with Peru), exported its first shipment with 177.9 tons of gold concentrate, which was produced since November 15, 2019.”

However, these results are part of the mining company’s aspirations for the next 15 years, who expects to extract 9.6 million tons of that mineral during this time.

The projection of export earnings between 2019 and 2034, according to the ministry, could be 7,887 million dollars and an estimated annual production of 310,000 troy ounces and 400,000 troy ounces of silver. You will also get “doré bars, which contain quantities of gold and silver of high purity, which will be shiped by air.”

Currently, the Lundin Gold mining company is not the only source of income to the country, there is also the Cascabel project, a SolGold concession which occupies 5,000 hectares in a region known as the Andean Copper Belt, with deposits of up to 20.3 million ounces of gold, 84.5 million ounces of silver and more than 9.5 million tons of copper.
