Economy in Latin America stagnated in 2019

During the last five years, the region has presented an average annual reduction of 0.6%

The International Monetary Fund assured that the economy in Latin America remained stagnant during 2019.

In its report where they present the economic outlook for the region, the IMF indicated that the financial flow showed an average reduction of 0.6% per year over the past 5 years.

One of the main causes of this has been the political and economic reforms of Brazil and Mexico. That uncertainty also occurred in Chile, due to social tensions last year, the report said.

The IMF also put Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador in that same category, by ensuring that there is some suspense as governments in these countries consider reform options to make growth more inclusive and to meet social demands.

The projections for 2020, Argentina is shown as the bad stop, with a possible contraction of 1.3% while Colombia would present a growth of 3.5% thanks to the handling of remittances, civil works, Venezuelan migration, among others.
