Donald Trump looks for a way to avoid “political trial”
The US president says "there must be a way" to move on from the investigation that Democrats want to apply
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that “there must be a way”, including a judicial process, to prevent the Democrats from carrying out the investigation against him in the face of a possible political trial.
“It should not be allowed. There should be a way to prevent it. Perhaps legally through the courts. Democrats are going to lose the elections and they know it. That’s why they do it,” said the US president.
He also reiterated that his controversial telephone call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, was a perfect call and added that the president of the European country said there was no pressure on him.
The president of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, launched the procedure that could trigger a process of parliamentary dismissal because she considered that the president acted irregularly with her call to Zelenski.
In their conversation, whose transcript unveiled the White House on Wednesday, Trump asked Zelenski to do what he could with the Attorney General’s Office so that Biden’s son was investigated.
The US president refused alleged irregularities with the telephone conversation and assured that he is victim of a “witch hunt” promoted by Democratic parliamentarians. Zelenski said, on the other hand, that the call was normal and that he did not feel pressured to investigate Hunter Biden.
