Digitel installs its first solar power plant

The telecommunications company activated solar panels in the state of Aragua, Venezuela

The telecommunications company Digitel announced the installation of its own solar panel plant as an energy source, for the Cuyagua station located in Aragua state.

Thanks to solar energy, some 9,000 people in the Cuyagua and Choroní region will benefit from a service independent of electricity.

Luis Bernardo Pérez, Digitel Executive Vice President, regarding this initiative, indicated that “Cuyagua represents the seed of progress and the future for telecommunications. We are innovating with a technology that is environmentally friendly, renewable, low maintenance and low cost.

The operation occurs when the photovoltaic modules transform sunlight into continuous electrical energy, which is accumulated in a battery to provide energy during night periods or with little solar irradiation. In addition to the panels, the composition of the system allows it to be fed by other routes, jointly and automatically; which makes it possible to guarantee energy and alternative continuity in the event of adverse conditions.

The average life of this plant is at least 20 years, generating during all that time a positive impact both financially and environmentally.
