Daimler recalls thousands of cars for faulty sunroofs

The car manufacturer made the decision in the face of the danger that this failure may represent for the owners of the affected models

The German automaker Daimler will recall thousands of cars in the United States for a review in its workshops due to probable defects in the sunroof, the US traffic authority (NHTSA) said.

According to the report, up to 744,852 vehicles are affected by this review by the German manufacturer. These are certain Class C and E cars, as well as the CLK and CLS models manufactured between 2001 and 2011.

The authorities warned that the sliding roof glass plate can become detached from the frame and thus become a danger to drivers in the middle of traffic.

As they added, Mercedes dealers will check the affected car system and replace it for free if necessary.

The call for review will begin in mid-February and is a wide-ranging operation, since in 2019 Daimler sold 316,094 Mercedes-Benz cars in the United States.
