Costa Rica leads best minimum wage ranking in Latin America with the

According to a report prepared by the Secretary of Labor and Social Security (STSS) of Honduras, the nation's workers receive approximately $ 821 per month.

Wages in America tend to have many variations from one country to another as demonstrated in the annual report entitled “Labor market and minimum wage 2018/2019”, which was prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STSS) from Honduras.

According to the figures, Costa Rica leads the legal minimum wage table with $ 821.27 per month.

This income is differentiated between “professionals and workers without classification” which promotes a more balanced economy. In the second place is Guatemala, with a wage policy valued at $ 396.16.

Honduras, for its part, is in third place with $ 275.26. In Nicaragua a minimum payment of $ 275.26 is established and finally El Salvador, with a salary of 261.05 dollars.

Each country develops its own policies for cases of wage increases, such as the case of Honduras, which annually sets the income according to the number of workers, according to their economic activity and the resulting negotiations between employers, workers and government.

On the other hand, El Salvador and Guatemala develop a similar method, salaries are reviewed every three years by the competent authorities.

In Nicaragua, an annual salary increase is established in two categories, the occupational categories that include nine activities and the industries subject to the tax regime.

Costa Rica adjusts minimum wages on a semi-annual basis, generally grouping two cathegories: occupational categories and domestic services.
