Conferry announces reactivation of Puerto La Cruz-Margarita route

After nearly three years of inactivity, the Venezuelan company Conferry announced it will reactivate the Puerto La Cruz-Margarita route on June 26 with the Paraguaná I vessel

The Venezuelan state-owned shipping company, Conferry, announced last week that it will reactivate the Puerto La Cruz-Margarita route on June 26 with the Paraguaná I vessel.

Through its information channels, the Ministry of Transportation announced that the process of marketing and selling tickets to passengers began last Thursday, June 11.

The state-owned company’s regular service had been “paralyzed since July 2023, when the Virgen del Valle II—the last vessel remaining in serviceable condition at the organization’s docks—was taken out of service due to severe mechanical failures and a prolonged lack of institutional maintenance.”

This was followed by the company’s technical decline, with a significant impact on the employment of its crews and shore-based personnel. Currently, “the addition of the Paraguaná I represents the central administration’s first attempt to regain ground in maritime transport in eastern Venezuela.”
