Colombia seeks to fight corruption with blockchain

The Government of the Latin American country wants to apply this process within government initiatives in order to obtain greater transparency

In recent years, the Colombian government has become a faithful believer in the use of blockchain technology to combat corruption within official institutions.

However, in the last few hours authorities have been talking about the current management is considering the possibility of applying this to help transparency within government processes.

Victor Rodríguez, national advisor for Innovation and Digital Transformation within the cabinet of the President of Colombia stated that in Medellín they will use a blockchain platform to complete purchases for a launch program.

“The objective is to offer greater transparency and traceability. The technological process has already been solved and now we are with the regulatory review”, highlighted the advisor.

These actions implemented by President Iván Duque are part of the strategy proposed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, hand in hand with other organizations that have gathered a budget of 6 million dollars to introduce SMEs from traditional sectors in advanced technologies.
