Coinbase authorizes payment through PayPal to European customers

The US cryptocurrency exchange announced that it authorized the withdrawal of fiat currency through PayPal in the European Union

On Tuesday, the US cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase announced that it will allow the withdrawal of fiat money from European Union customers as well as from the European Free Trade Association through PayPal.

Through its official blog, Coinbase spokespersons indicated that since 2018 they have obtained support for PayPal in the United States and now they are expanding it by allowing withdrawals to these two groups of countries through the payment company.

After the failure of the initiative with the support of PayPal in 2016 due to technical problems, the US exchange suspended it. The recent decision to activate fiat withdrawals in Europe is an easier and quicker way for these transactions.

It is important to clarify that the PayPal platform has not had a good relationship with digital currencies, considering them a strong competitor. However, according to co-founder of payment platform Luke Nosek, PayPal’s main function “was to create a global currency that was independent of the interference of these, you know, of the corrupt cartels of banks and governments that were degrading your coins.”

In fact, in 2018 the company filed a US patent. to accelerate the cryptocurrency payment system. A positive and promising aspect for the digital currency ecosystem.
