China will implement the blockchain for the tracking of ex-convicts

The Zhongshan Department of Justice developed a platform capable of verifying the current situation of people who are on probation

This week, the Justice Department of the Chinese city of Zhongshan allegedly completed the development of a tracking system based on blockchain technology.

It will serve to follow the movements of the ex-convicts while they are in their status of conditional freedom in the city, in order to have a better “community correction”.

The use of this technology would have also reached different community centers where these people are asked to register and comply with certain daily activities.

The community correction staff and security agencies will be the only ones authorized to access the network to determine the whereabouts of those convicted at any time, so they can take the appropriate measures in case it occurs an extraordinary event beyond their freedom condition.

Thanks to this blockchain platform, the Department of Justice will be able to reduce the number of people normally required for the tracking of ex-convicts. This can be considered one of the most recent applications in China for this technology, of which many experts say that in about 12 years the Asian region will be at the forefront, equally in the banking sector and public administration.
