China suspends purchase of Boeing aircraft
One measure China has adopted in response to the tariff war with the United States is the suspension of the purchase of Boeing aircraft, a measure that has already been communicated to all airlines in the Asian country
Chinese airlines have received communication from the government about the suspension of the purchase of Boeing aircraft in response to the United States tariffs.
According to official instructions, the Chinese government’s decision includes “the freezing of orders for US spare parts and equipment.”
As a trigger for this decision, they have cited China’s 125 % tariffs on US products, a reciprocal response to the 145 % levies previously imposed by Washington.
According to Bloomberg, the consequences of these tariffs would be devastating, “not only doubling the cost of Boeing aircraft, but also making operations with these aircraft financially unviable in the Chinese market.”
According to the Aviation Flights Group, China would only allow, on an exceptional basis, the partial delivery of 10 737 Max aircraft that had already been ordered by China Southern Airlines, Air China, and Xiamen Airlines, provided that the procedures were completed before April 12.
