Chileans to start paying cryptocurrency-related taxes

A new section within Form 22 includes the payment of Value Added Tax (VAT) for digital assets

Residents of Chile must pay taxes for their earnings obtained through cryptocurrencies in a new section that will include form 22.

Said declaration must be made before the Internal Revenue Service (SII), which had previously declared that the cryptoactives were not subject to the Value Added Tax (VAT) payments.

However, after some time this idea was changed and it was determined that the digital assets should be included in the VAT, and that they have to be paid once a year.

For the first time in the history of Chile, the form 22 will contain a special section designed solely for the payment of taxes on cryptoactives.

The decision to include the digital assets was due to the boom that they have had within the Chilean territory for the use of acquisition of products and services.
