Canada’s first regulated crypto exchange Wealthsimple Crypto goes public

From this Wednesday, users of the 13 provinces and territories of the country can formalize their registration in the new product and start trading with cryptocurrencies

From this Wednesday, Wealthsimple Crypto, the only Canadian cryptocurrency platform regulated by the Canadian Securities Administration (CSA), is available to the public.

This was reported by the general counsel of the platform, Blair Wiley, who clarified that the crypto custody service is in the hands of the important American platform Gemini, founded by the well-known Winklevoss brothers.

According to Wiley, through the cryptocurrency exchange Canadian users will be free to buy and sell bitcoin and ether once registered in the platform’s mobile application. Regarding deposits and withdrawals, these can only be made in Canadian dollars.

It is important to note that Wealthsimple Crypto will not store any digital assets in its own online or offline wallets. The cryptocurrency exchange was already active in its beta version, which allowed interested parties to sign up for a waiting list.

The launching to the public of the first crypto exchange regulated by the Canadian Securities Administration opens the way to “high interest savings, trading without commissions”, as indicated on their website, where they also indicate that they are convinced that “everyone should have access to the tools they need to make smart financial decisions. “
