Canada approves the trade agreement between Mexico and the US

The Senate approved the T-MEC implementation law that had already been authorized by the presidents of both nations

This Friday, the Canadian Senate approved the trade agreement between the United States and Mexico.

The Undersecretary for North America, Jesús Seade was in charge of announcing the approval of the T-Mec implementation law.

“The Canadian Senate has approved the T-MEC implementation law. Finally, after intense negotiations, the Treaty will become a reality that will strengthen competitiveness in North America”, he said through his Twitter account.

The new trade agreement was ratified by Mexico on December 10 and promulgated by US President Donald Trump on February 29.

The T-MEC claims to be a modernized version of the NAFTA free trade agreement that the three North American countries reached in 1994.
